Project and Program Managers – Technical/IT

Location: Various

Summary
Provides advanced technical support services; designs, specifies, and develops solutions for complex heterogeneous computing infrastructure. Performs research and development to identify and implement applicable emerging technologies in the Laboratory computing environment. Utilizes formal project management methodologies; gathers customer requirements; performs risk management functions; performs capacity and availability planning for computing infrastructure; performs effective communication both, verbal and written, at all levels.


Has wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and Laboratory objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods. Considered expert in field within the organization. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Work is accomplished without considerable direction. May coordinate activities of other personnel. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment, and determines the methods and procedures needed for new assignments.

 Required Skills

  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware in a networked environment.
  • Extensive system administration of computers running Windows Operating Systems (troubleshooting, configuration, network connectivity, and security).
  • Experience working in a high availability production-computing environment.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal skills and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and focused on customer service.

 Desired Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Client & Server Deployment, Management, and Support.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCPIP Protocols, Local Area Networks, and Wireless Area Networks.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Active Directory.
  • Ability to create and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and produce system/server documentation.
  • Ability to write clear and concise summaries of technical solutions.
  • Skill in working closely with customers and suppliers to define expectations and mutual responsibilities.

Education

  • Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) in IS or related field is desired; 4-year degree preferred.
  • Certifications in workstation and or server operating systems, (e.g. A+, MCP, MSDST) is a plus.

Clearance
No clearance is required, though applicant should be able to acquire a Q clearance, which normally requires U.S. citizenship.
